Look, I’m the first to agree that reasonable and rational steps should be taken to protect public safety. But there comes a point where the discussion stops being about what is actually effective and starts becoming about eliminating rights.
It’s incumbent upon us to take the discussion seriously, but also to make damn sure we don’t erase constitutional rights out of fear, political convenience, or simply because some people personally dislike them.
